Day 36

Today I am thankful for Safari Playground.

Tonight, my family and I went out to a place called Safari Playground. It’s a pretty neat place. It’s kinda like Chuck-E-Cheese. The difference is the theme of the place and the giant jungle gym it has.

I’ve been there before and always have a great time. This time, however, was a bit different.

This time I was reminded that I am no longer a 20 year old guy, but that I am almost 30. I love joining my kids in the playground and playing with them. It’s one of my favorite things to do as a dad. We usually play a game of tag or something like it, running around the playground area. I am pretty good at this, considering I am faster and better at hiding than both of them. This time however I wasn’t as prepared for the fun. I haven’t worked out in quite a while and my endurance isn’t what it should be so I was coughing, wheezing, sloppy in my running and then I fell, several times… AND IT HURT! And still does.

It’s a humbling reminder that I am getting older. I am blessed that I am even able to say that. I hope that I can always play with kids and keep up with them, better yet, them keep up with me.

I am grateful for these times. Times of laughter, goofing off and memories being made. I don’t want to just let them slide. I want to embrace them, enjoy them and have as much of them as I possibly can. You should too.

If your a dad like me, or even a mom. Enjoy the time with your kids that you have. Especially while they still WANT to play with you. Someday, hopefully never, they may not want to play with me anymore, but until that day comes if that day comes, I will embrace each moment with all that I can.
