Today I am thankful for the great Father & Son trip this weekend.
Today we wrap up the Winter Camp trip. The whole cabin got together to help deep clean everything and load up the bus before our last service and meal together in the woods. It has been quite a fun trip.
I’m not sure what was the best part for others, but for me, hanging out with like-minded dads is always a favorite of mine. On Saturday, we went shooting, we did some archery, we did some wrestling, ice fishing, gaga ball and worshipped God. Every morning I held a small devotional in the kitchen area of our cabin. Just a few of us guys discussing God’s word.
I’m grateful for the many hands that went into making it a successful trip. I’m very thankful for the Michigan District Royal Rangers for their leadership and hosting of the event itself. I am a firm believer that Dads everywhere should lead the charge in raising their sons. Only a man can teach a boy how to be a man. We must not take being a dad lightly. It’s such a gift that we must not waste.
If you’re a dad, take your son camping. If you don’t know how, learn together, fail together, grow together. Imagine the relationship that can be had if only we men made a great effort in leading our children well and with purpose.
